You are the sky. Everything else – it’s just the weather.

It takes a strong person to ask for help.  I find people who enter therapy the most fascinating and inspiring individuals, although they may not always see this about themselves at the beginning.  I am often asked how I can do the work that I do, and work with people who are in so much pain, and it makes me think of a wise saying I once heard, “In life pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.”  We all have pain, but those who come to see me have reached the point where they are actively seeking real freedom and ease from suffering, and I feel honoured to work with them.

Sometimes people initially come because of a specific painful event or crisis, sometimes it is because their usual ways of managing pain cease to be effective, and sometimes they are not exactly sure what they are looking for. Therapy can bring deeper personal insight and awareness, which can help to identify and change the thought and behaviour patterns that are keeping you from feeling your best.  My personal experience has shown me that this process can be much more efficient, transformative, and even joyful when embarked on with the help of the right counsellor.
